Art in the neighbourhood

Colours Project

The Colours project opened on 9 April, 2014, in Amsterdam's Geuzenveld neighbourhood.

Together with neighbourhood residents, artists Wil van Blokland and Mirjam Bakker transformed the entrances to the Het Getij apartment complex into two warm, colourful and personal entryways. The project was commissioned by the Stadgenoot housing association.

After investigating the favourite colours of all the residents, a unique 'Colour Barcode' was created. Alongside it is a wall of collages of mixed materials on wooden panels, made by individual residents in their own favourite colours.
